QS/1 Offers SMP Immunization Interface
Spartanburg, SC – August 10, 2017) In a move that will greatly improve overall patient health, QS/1 has teamed with Script Management Partners (SMP) to offer pharmacies an electronic immunization reporting interface to state and local Immunization Information Systems (IIS). This interface is a turnkey solution to report all immunizations administered within each pharmacy to its respective IIS registry.
IIS registries are confidential, population-based databases that are administered by participating providers for persons residing within a specified geopolitical area. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention encourages the use of IIS to consolidate immunization information into one database to provide an accurate immunization assessment. SMP’s technology, which is designed to improve efficiency in immunization reporting, complements QS/1’s growing immunization tracking features.
“We are excited to partner with QS/1 to offer this resource,” said Sam Pizzo, senior vice president of SMP. “The current model for immunization reporting to each registry is antiquated. Pharmacy staff spend too much time populating the necessary information in the IIS portals. This new feature eliminates the time-consuming process of manual data entry, saving pharmacies time and money by focusing staff members on other pharmacy functions.”
“QS/1 is always at the forefront of implementing innovative ways to help pharmacies improve the lives and health of their patients,” said Saul Factor, QS/1 president. “This partnership with SMP gives pharmacies the ability to report as required by state and local regulations and track to ensure as many patients as possible are getting these important vaccinations.”
“Pharmacies are taking a much larger role in their communities as immunization advocates,” Pizzo added. “Having the tools to accommodate these services is key to running a successful immunization program.”
With this partnership, QS/1 is helping pharmacies to report the immunization data without making it burdensome for pharmacy staff. This resource is also another way community pharmacies can set themselves apart from the competition.
